Unleashed Dream – A Promise Fulfilled in Sound
Unleashed Dream is more than an album—it’s the sound of a teenage promise made behind the Iron Curtain and fulfilled years later across the ocean. Every track reflects a journey fueled by rebellion, hope, and an unwavering love for music and the guitar.
In 1980s communist Poland, Western music was rare and sacred. With no access to real instruments, we improvised—radios for amps, buckets for drums—but the dream never faded. I was the frontman of a punk band—not by choice, but because my friends said I was charismatic enough to lead. Truthfully, I wasn’t very good. My hands were restless—I wanted to play the guitar.
I’d wanted to start at age eight, but my public school teacher dismissed me, saying my fingers were too short (they really are) and that I’d never play guitar. Instead, I was pushed toward the accordion. I struggled with it. I sincerely hated its sound—so typical of Eastern European folk music. To this day, I’m still not a fan, though I deeply admire true masters of the instrument.
Then, for some reason, my stepfather bought a guitar from a group of gypsies for my younger brother—who had never shown any interest in playing. I started messing with it since he wasn’t touching it. The guitar was in terrible condition—the strings were galaxies away from the fretboard—but I still tried. Eventually, I literally smashed that instrument of torture.
The punk band gave me my first chance to pick up an electric guitar. I was 15, playing borrowed instruments, until my father gave me some money. I worked to make up the rest and finally bought my first guitar. I made a lot of noise. My neighbors hated me for those early punk riffs. But I didn’t care. At art school, I discovered John Scofield, Jimi Hendrix, and Eddie Van Halen—and the guitar became my obsession.
Years later, that dream reached its peak when I was published in Guitar Player Magazine (October 2005), featured by Mike Varney in the Spotlight column. It may seem small—but for me, it was everything. The one achievement I always hoped for. Proof that the voice I’d nurtured in silence had finally been heard.
Unleashed Dream captures that spirit—raw, real, and deeply personal. It’s not just an album. It’s the sound of freedom realized.
